Charting at #3 on the Roots Music Report for 12/12/20
Updated: Dec 19, 2020
Commonplaces is making me very proud! #3!!!! It is my first recording in several years and features a number of my original songs. I have always been inspired by the region in which I grew up--the Blackstone River Valley in New England, where the currents and the stories flow from the headwaters in Worcester, MA, to the Narragansett Bay in Providence and on toward the Atlantic. This inspiration serves my writing and singing by letting me look back into the past, across generations and geography, to sing from every songbook and to write my own. The Blackstone River Valley, the Birthplace of the American Industrial Revolution, is my "commonplace." It is the river-road that carries the music everywhere like that "...one, small drop of water...." from Jon Campbell's song "Restless Waters." Visit www.edsweeneymusic.com for more on COMMONPLACES, the recording. Visit my blog again, soon, for thoughts on the experience of making this new project! And other things, too.
